Mrs Snuggles® Sensory Room is the first of its kind in Exmouth. We have 2 specially designed rooms which combine a range of stimuli to help individuals develop and engage their senses. These can include lights, colours, sounds, sensory soft play objects, aromas all within a safe environment that allows the person using it to explore and interact without risk.
Intriguing toys and equipment gently encourage your child to explore their environment without feeling frightened or overwhelmed.
Mrs Snuggles Sensory Room scan be enjoyed by all ages for relaxation and therapeutic purposes and can be booked for private hire for SEN Adults, SEN, playgroups & Nurseries or alternatively shared with our weekly Mrs Snuggles® baby or toddler sensory experiences.
We have two rooms adjacent to each other, our white room and our blackout room which both contain a wide variety of sensory stimulating items, such as a vibrating bed, black out tent, interactive light wall, infinity mirrors , bubble tube, full HD projector with a variety of
animated projections ,Sensory Garden, ball pool , fibre optic lights, tactile fidget boards and an intriguing selection of sensory toys.
The Sensory Room fosters an atmosphere of relaxation, which is good for both children and adult’s emotional health. It gives them a chance to explore their feelings and to become interested in their environment.
This calming environment is also a place for parents/carers to bond with their children, providing a restful and peaceful experience in today’s busy and sometimes stressful lifestyles.
Mrs Snuggles® Sensory experience has many benefits for children and adults with special needs as it creates a stimulating yet calming atmosphere and among other things can help to improve hand to eye co-ordination and develop language skills. The overactive child can be calmed, and the inactive become interested.
All young children can benefit from using a sensory room to develop fundamental sensory skills needed in later life. Sensory rooms are particularly useful for people with sight or hearing problems and have been proven to be extremely valuable to people with autism. beneficially it supports the development of communication, enhances sensory skills, hand-eye co-ordination and cause and effect response, it assists the development of social and emotional skills, reduces tension and increase relaxation, it also provides fun and enjoyment whilst Improving levels of concentration, alertness, calmness & general awareness.
On some afternoons during term time from 3.30 pm till 5.30 we have our SEN Cafe Experience, ask inside for dates. It’s a chance for parents/carers and enablers to meet in a safe friendly environment and an opportunity to visit our sensory room for 20 mins there is also the ability for their children to enjoy a selection of intriguing sensory toys and our Lego experience at the front of the shop.
